I set out in Spring 2010 to post a photo a week (taken that same week) for the remainder of the year. I'm pleased to say that I achieved my goal and am now looking for a new 'challenge' for 2011. Any suggestions?

I caught this image of Firefighters training in Oldcastle, Co Meath as I came out of an exhibition last night. I liked the light on this shot and quickly grabbed my camera and took a picture.

It's been an amazing week photographically. It has been so beautiful here for the past week or so that I'm not sure which image to choose. I've decided to go with this one because I think the morning light is beautiful.

Oops, nearly forgot to post this. This week's pic is from a series of images taken whilst trying to keep warm on these cold, dark evenings. I love the way the flames look like dancers.

Considering the day that's in it (National Campaign for the Arts day) I thought this image, which I took last Saturday, of Meath Arts Workers imploring the government to continue supporting the arts in the forthcoming budget was the most appropriate image for this week.

Are there giant spiders living by Castle Lake in Bailieborough? This is just one web cocoon I came across. Others were bigger, more pouch-like but less dramatic. I'll be having nightmares about giant spiders chasing me through the woods tonight.

I took this in passing at the Fleadh 2010 in Cavan town last Sunday. To me it's a moment of pure relaxation. What better way to spend your Sunday than sitting on your own doorstep in the sun, reading the papers!

Week 20 - Pic 20 'Duckett's Grove, Co Carlow'

We took a trip to County Carlow last weekend - a county I don't think I've really been in for more than a drive through before and I have to say it's very beautiful. I'll go back for a longer stay another time. Above is Duckett's Grove, the stately home is a very fine example of the gothic style of building which belonged to the Duckett family for many years. The building burnt down in 1933 and has since been acquired by Carlow County Council who have restored the walled gardens are some of the walls. I think it's still a work in progress but with budgets being tight and the recession not yet loosening it's group I'm not sure how high on the agenda restoration projects are. Worth a visit.

Despite my PC having been firmly diagnosed as DEAD I muddle on and bring you pics from my garden. I was just wondering if there was a stinging contest - who would win?

My computer has crashed and I won't know for a few days whether it's a 'simple' matter of replacing the power supply or a new motherboard/PC (though a mac would be preferable). So there is currently a slight delay on this week's image which, in a way, is good as I haven't anything amazing enough to post just yet. There's still time and the old wind up laptop beckons.

It's been a fairly soggy week this week so photo opportunities have been slightly diminished. I did, however, manage to capture these noisy little creatures through the open window of my bedroom. I feel sorrow for Mummy Swallow.

After photographing a farrier at work at Kells Market Day I thought it'd be nice to present the images as a kind of documentary style photo, so I spent a few hours putting this together. I have to say I'm very pleased with it and, as always, I'd welcome your comments.

This window caught my eye. It's such a welcome change from the usual white double glazed look we all seem to have these days. I like the 'traditional' feel to it and the way it welcomes you in.

I'd spotted this old tram in a field in County Meath and finally climbed the fence to go and photograph it. It used to run from Llandudno to Colwyn Bay (Wales) but isn't going far anymore. The wonder is - how did it get there in the first place?

I've been told I have a 'good eye' for a photography so I'm taking it literally and have posted a pic of my 'good eye'. :-)
I'm constantly thinking about what to photograph so that I can post it here. This is good, it's a good way for my brain to be working. Nothing like a project/commitment to keep you going.

I bit the bullet and made myself go out on a photo shoot and it's been great. It was one of those non-weeks where I lacked motivation to do anything really but it's definitely well worth giving yourself a challenge and sticking to it. Not only do I have some nice new photos but I also feel brighter and more motivated.

My dear husband has informed me that YES it would be cheating to use a photo that wasn't taken in the past 7 days. I knew this was the case so I now have to make the effort to photograph something decent which I will post by Friday - as per my own rules.

I was just thinking that this uploading a photo a week is a great way to be able to look back at your year and remember the good, the bad, the ugly times you may have had over the year. Preferably all good because in fairness it's not often that we photograph our own personal bad times is it?
